Self-expression Vs. Conformityits a perennial tug-of-war .
to ceaseless abide by "being true to yourself" will sometimes invite unnecessary trouble. to be true to yourself, is to mirror one's inner most feelings onto the surface. to be true to yourself, is to be open to people. to be true to yourself, is to be judged. to be true to yourself, means absolute vulnerability - to allow others to trample on, to manipulate.
to be true to yourself, is to laugh freely, heartily. to be true to yourself, is to dance ecstatically like a fool to whatever catches your rhythm. to be true to yourself, is to love yourself, for who you are. to be true to yourself, is being spontaneous, living life for the moment. to be true to yourself, means to be self-assured, to be confident.
why is being true to yourself, often met with quiet, punitive judgments?
where is your place then, in this strange little world?
